South To Find Sand

Monday 27th November 2017

Last evening we had accepted a kind invitation over to New Forest residents Phil & Jenny’s van to share a bottle, eh-em, and a good chat session went on for some time. Thank you both. This morning we packed up and readied the van for our next leg of the trip. We said our goodbyes to  P & J and also to Tomás before carefully making our way out of the sites gate to get on our way.

We had decided that we would like to camp next to a nice flat sandy beach for the remainder of our time in Spain this year. We will be returning to the UK for Christmas, then return by ferry to Santander in January.

We enjoy walking on a sandy beach and the beach at Monmar did not fit the bill.

Towing Kilometres – Today: 146 Cumulative: 5,214

The weather forecast was slightly better towards Alicante, so we consulted the ASCI app for a suitable site. There were a number of sites that accepted the Camping Card along the coast near Oliva and we chose Kiko Park. We took a route that avoided tolls but this still took us on fine dual carriageway roads and we made excellent progress for the short, 146 km trip,

This is a €19 a night site, but on arrival we upgraded to a full service pitch at €23.50 a night and booked in for ten nights.  Wi-fi is reasonably fast and free, but electricity is rationed to 4kw a day. This is  a first for us, so we’ll have to keep an eye on our consumption and use gas if necessary. The shower blocks are clean and plenty of hot water.

There is a pizza/takeaway on site, a supermarket at the end of the road, and a nice looking restaurant next door.

All we need now is for the weather to hold.
