Oranienburg – Detour to Lutzs’ Place

When we last saw Lutz, 5th February, he offered an open-ended invitation to visit with him at his home in Oranienburg near Berlin.

I contacted him to see if he was around this week and if the invitation still stood.

He confirmed that,although he was busy, he was and we decided to make the 600km detour over to his to stay a few days.

Arnhem Cycle Ride

Friday 6th July 2018

Ray has always been keen to visit places with a connection to World War events and our proximity to the city of Arnhem made a trip to the John Frost Bridge, The Bridge Too Far, in Arnhem a real possibility.

Even more so, we could cycle there on designated cycle routes. Only 20 kms there and 20 kms back again. We both felt we were up for it, even without the assistance of a battery powered bike each 😉 Continue reading Arnhem Cycle Ride

Gelderland, Doesburg, Netherlands

Thursday 5th July 2018

Unbeknown to us our chosen destination was in an area of Gelderland called Achterhoek. It is a delightful rural area and a superb spot for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. We had views of the River and were surrounded by fields, farms and had access to a web of cycle routes, clearly signposted, which made exploring the area and the small villages around us so easy. A Hectic Week

Thursday 28th June to Wednesday 4th July 2018

Thursday morning we set an alarm, a rare event these days, locked the caravan, and set off for Dunkirk for the 10am ferry to Dover for what turned out to be a hectic week!

We were due to attend the wedding of good friends Ray & Denise on Saturday in Wokingham. My brother Steve was coming over to caravan sit.

We planned to visit with as many relatives as possible and do some shopping for stuff we have been unable to find enroute. We were also collecting our new Thule Omnistor canopy that Kim had purchased online as well.
