We moved on again today, toward Madrid. My youngest son Glenn, his wife Lynsey, and grandsons Zac & Jake, are visiting Madrid this half term week, so we will meet them for lunch on Wednesday.
We were in no hurry to leave Don Cactus, which, despite my earlier reservations, turned out to be an enjoyable place to stay. The staff are excellent without exception and the facilities likewise. I am sure we will return.
Campsite Despeñaperros is located almost half way to Madrid so we made this our target for today.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 236 Cumulative: 9,789
The trip went well, at lower speed than normal due to lots of climbing, in glorious sunshine & 16°C temperature, and once past Granada there were endless numbers of olive groves for a far as the eye could see.
We arrived at the site and were allocated a pitch. The site was very quiet at this time of year.
This is another Camping Card site, costing €17 per night including electric hook up.
The facilities are OK, if a little tired looking, but could have been better cleaned.
We set up and then wandered around the local town before returning for a drink and tapas sitting in the setting sun.
