Today, we continued our trek northward and back into Spain.
The route was of approximately 270km on toll motorways passing near Braga, Vigo, and Pontevedra, places we will have to visit on another trip.
Our rough plan is still to visit Scandinavia this summer so we need to press on north a bit.
We were heading for Camping Ancoradoiro, in Galicia.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 267 Cumulative: 13,404
The campsite is about 100 metres from an excellent white sand beach and would serve as a base to visit Santiago De Compostela and spend some R&R time on the sand.
The trip passed through some stunning scenery today on fine roads, although we seemed to be climbing most of the way. I did wonder if I’d left the caravan brake on at one point! But no, it was just a long steep climb.
As usual we stopped for lunch just over half way in an excellent parking area.
A welcome cup of coffee and a baguette consumed, we continued our journey. After leaving the Autovia to head west toward the site, we started descending on twisting roads, the AC-543 & AC-554, that snaked their way around the coast through numerous picturesque fishing villages. At one point Kim spotted what appeared to be a bay full of mini submarines! On closer inspection we decided they were mussel farms 🙂
We were greeted on site by the owner who initially was concerned with the size of our caravan. He directed us to a pitch that would accommodate us but unfortunately had no sea view. We could park the car on the pitch opposite, so had plenty of room.
The site costs €15 a night with the Camping Card. The facilities are clean & tidy and the site is well maintained as well as in an excellent location.
