Continuing the journey north toward Barcelona docks we chose another Camping Card site that we had not visited before, Ribamar Camping in the Sierra De Irta Natural Park.
Backtracking down the winding road from El Berro passed without incident although there was noticeably more traffic this time including two trucks that we fortunately met on wider sections of the road.
Within a half hour we were cruising on non toll Autovia including a long section of brand new road that the Ford navigation knew nothing about despite the map upgrade I purchased recently.
We have come to the conclusion that we could have avoided purchasing map updates, specialist caravan GPS, and iPhone caravan apps and just relied on Google Maps for the entire trip.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 377 Cumulative: 30,328
The reviews we had read for Ribamar Camping warned of an approach down 1.5km of unmade road but this was easily passable despite the excess of rain in the area recently.
The effort towing the caravan down the unmade road is well rewarded. The site is excellent. The pitches are large, on gravel covered firm bases. Each pitch has individual water tap & drainage with electric connection post nearby. We ate in the bar/restaurant on our first night and were served with good food by friendly staff. There is a large terrace outside overlooking the pool, but we couldn’t use that because it was raining again when we ate 🙁
The washing facilities are very good, with plentiful hot water, and there are ample washing machines available for your laundry. There is site wide wi-fi available at an extra charge.
The sea is approximately 200 metres away.
We intend to stay four nights before moving up to Vilanova Park, near Barcelona. We are booked on the ferry to Civitavecchia, near Rome on Tuesday night. Kim will be praying for calm seas until then 🙂
