With the return of finer weather the decision was made to get out for some long overdue exercise. A walk down the coast to the nearby village of Alcossebre, a round trip of around 10km, would fit the bill.
We set off from the campsite on reasonably level paths through the wooded area of the Parc Natural de la Serra d’Irta and headed down to the seafront. The paths leading south toward the village quickly became rather rough and uneven and we were pleased we hadn’t ridden the bikes.
We soon came upon the Faro de Irta, a 33 metre high lighthouse, sadly marred with graffiti.
Heading south from the lighthouse there is approximately 1km of fine paved promenade leading to a viewing platform offering fine views of the surrounding area.
The walk continued on the village roads passing white painted holiday homes and assorted bars. We then reached a fine sandy beach, the Platja del Moro.
A hundred metres or so further on we reached the Marina.
After lingering here for a while we decided that enough was enough and headed back. By the time we got back to camp two & a half hours had passed and we had walked six miles so felt we deserved our G&T reward 🙂
