We moved on again today to Camping Kalogria in Stoupa. We want to get our tour of the Pelopennes completed before the temperatures get very silly and it’s forecast to be 30°C today.
The planned route took us north on the same roads as we had taken to Messena, then east around Kalamata before joining the new 7 road south toward Stoupa.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 95 Cumulative: 31,763
No real problems were encountered just meeting a coach at a narrow part of town and further on a pickup truck carry hay bales twice as wide as the truck itself 🙂
When the new part of the road ran out we then progressed on twisting, climbing & descending roads the like of which we hadn’t seen since Norway last year.
Starting our descent toward Stoupa we pulled over into one of the few parking areas available. The views over the bay are fantastic.
We stopped again a little lower to get a photograph of the stunningly clear water.
A short while later we arrived at Camping Kalogria. A Camping Card site at the rate of €18 inclusive of electricity.
After ringing the bell at reception we were warmly welcomed and offered seats while the paperwork was completed. The cheerful guy in reception told us he had visited Hornchurch in Essex some years previously.
He also seemed somewhat besotted by Kate & Pippa Middleton 🙂
We were told to setup anywhere we liked and chose a pitch that shaded the fridge outlet and water container as by now the Sun was very hot and forecast to remain the same for the foreseeable.
The pitches are on grass & not marked out. The electric connection is close by and water tap a short walk.
After a leisurely setting up we settled down under the canopy for a beer and some lunch before I set off to examine the facilities. They are best described as dated but clean. There is ample hot water.
There are clothes washing facilities and a Mini Mart on site too.
