On Friday we made the final step of our journey back up to Barcelona to catch the ferry to Italy by returning to Vilanova Park in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a trip of 200km on non-toll autovia. The ferry to Civitavecchia, near Rome, is booked for 22:30 on Tuesday and the docks are only a 45 minute tow from the campsite. We arrived early afternoon and were allocated a large quiet pitch which, as is usual here, had electric hookup, water & waste all on pitch. Too easy! 🙂
With the return of finer weather the decision was made to get out for some long overdue exercise. A walk down the coast to the nearby village of Alcossebre, a round trip of around 10km, would fit the bill. Continue reading Alcossebre Coast Walk→
Continuing the journey north toward Barcelona docks we chose another Camping Card site that we had not visited before, Ribamar Camping in the Sierra De Irta Natural Park.
Backtracking down the winding road from El Berro passed without incident although there was noticeably more traffic this time including two trucks that we fortunately met on wider sections of the road.
Within a half hour we were cruising on non toll Autovia including a long section of brand new road that the Ford navigation knew nothing about despite the map upgrade I purchased recently. Continue reading Ribamar Camping→
This morning we packed up the caravan and loaded the car ready to move on and continue with our tour. We decided to move up to Camping Sierra Espuña, a site we had not visited before. The reviews of the site were very good despite dire warnings of quite narrow approach roads.
Our plan for the next couple of weeks is to make our way back to Barcelona docks and take the Grimaldi Lines ferry to Rome. Camping Sierra Espuña would be a good stepping stone in that direction.
With the caravan safely stored at Monte Parc, we set off on the 29th of March for Malaga airport to catch our British Airways flight to Gatwick to commence our house sit back in the UK. Mark & Jacqui were off to Thailand for a much needed holiday and we had agreed to house and cat sit for the duration.
