Lake Bled & Progress Homeward

Wednesday 17th July 2019

One place that I had considered visiting on the 2009 motorcycle tour was Lake Bled. In the end we visited Postojne Caves instead therefore the decision was made to visit the lake now.

Once again Kim picked out a site, Camping Šobec, which lies on the Sava Dolinka River near Lesce, Slovenia. This would be an ideal base as it’s only a 5km walk to the lakeside.

Campingpark Oberammergau

Saturday 27th October 2018

I could happily have stayed at Campingplatz Seecamp for a while longer but what they were charging us, particularly at this time of year, was far too much. This was highlighted while chatting to another Brit visitor, staying long term, who were paying less per week than we were per day! Time to move on.

Kim had been studying the Camping Card book and had noticed a site with good reviews in Oberammergau, home of the famous Passion Play, so that became our target for the day.

Grossglockner High Alpine Road

Thursday 25th October 2018

After the previous day’s poor weather conditions, particularly the relentless rain, we woke to bright skies and spectacular views across Lake Zell and the snow capped Alps in the distance.

I must admit that Ray has come up trumps many times choosing our next location and we are often blessed with some decent weather conditions, if only for a day or two but more than expected at this time of the year 😉 Continue reading Grossglockner High Alpine Road

Schönbrunn Palace

Tuesday 23rd October 2018

This morning we were off to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Palace and Gardens of Schönbrunn, Schloss Schönbrunn in the district of Hietzing, Vienna.

It is a former imperial summer residence of the Habsburgs,  with vast gardens, as well as, the Tiergarten (Vienna Zoo), The Palm house, The Desert House, located in the Sundial House and the Wagenburg, a museum of carriages and vehicles, to name but a few. There are many more attractions to keep you busy for quite a few hours or days! Continue reading Schönbrunn Palace
