Today we were up at, for us, sparrow fart. The intention was to beat the crowds and visit the largest and oldest of the meteora monasteries The Great Meteoron Monastery.

Our base in the tiny village of Kromidovo was just a short drive to Melnik, reputed to be the smallest town in Bulgaria and at last count, a population of 385 inhabitants. Time to move on again. Our target for today was Camping Madona in Falkovets, north-west Bulgaria.
With our two year tour coming into the last few weeks we decided to skip visiting the capital city, Sofia, and press on further, conscious of the distance we still have to cover back to the UK.
