The Adventure Resumes

Knowing that we would have to be away early today to get the Santander ferry from Portsmouth we had booked, we decided last Friday to move the caravan over to Hayling Island. The adventure resumes. 🙂

Towing Kilometres – Today: 35 Cumulative: 7,244

We chose a Caravan & Motorhome Club Certified Location,  Westcroft Stables. Although it was very wet under foot, and a slightly pricey ÂŁ13 a night, it served our purposes well. We only stayed at the van for one night, preferring the log burner and endless bar at Mark & Jacqui’s 🙂

The Long Haul Completed

Wednesday 13th December 2017

After a ‘day off’ yesterday it was time to head north again. Our target today was Camping de la Trye in Bresles, Picardy, a drive of around 230km. We set off in damp, cold, windy conditions with a forecast for more of the same. The wind was actually forecast to be 30kn gusting 55kn by early afternoon. As we proceeded the traffic grew and grew and google maps showed more and more delays so progress was slow. The gusty wind rocked the caravan a few times but not to the point of any alarm.

The Long Haul North for Christmas

Saturday 9th December 2017

With the Eurotunnel booked for early on Friday 15th the time had come to start the 1300 or so kilometres long haul north back towards Calais. The original plan was to retrace our steps back up the coast toward Perpignan, but the lure of mountain passes called. I checked the weather and decided to give the direct 350 km route towards Toulouse, through the Pyrenees, a try. This would effectively give us a spare day enroute if we needed it.
