The combination of heavy rain, poor weather forecasts, and not least, the thoroughly waterlogged ground our caravan was parked on brought about a big change of plan today. We had intended staying in northern Spain for at least another week to visit the region around Bilbao and Guggenheim museum.
As we knew today was probably going to be our last in the Picos de Europa we were enthusiastic to make the most of the limited time available and the best of the weather.
On our way into Potes yesterday, we had passed by an impressive building, named the Centro de visitants Sotama, so we headed back to investigate.

In my motorcycling touring days I had considered coming to the Picos de Europa on a couple of occasions but the lure of further destinations such as Croatia and Norway had always taken priority.
