We woke at 06:30 after a good nights sleep for me, Kim having been woken by the wind & rain a couple of times . As we were already hitched up it didn’t take long to get ready to roll and we left before first light, on what turned out to be our longest towing day so far, striving to get as far south as possible, ideally Bordeaux. Knowing that we would have to be away early today to get the Santander ferry from Portsmouth we had booked, we decided last Friday to move the caravan over to Hayling Island. The adventure resumes. 🙂

We chose a Caravan & Motorhome Club Certified Location, Westcroft Stables. Although it was very wet under foot, and a slightly pricey ÂŁ13 a night, it served our purposes well. Having survived once again the eating & drinking fest that is Christmas & New Year, I’ve spent this week sorting out things for the next phase of our tour.
After a ‘day off’ yesterday it was time to head north again. Our target today was Camping de la Trye in Bresles, Picardy, a drive of around 230km. We set off in damp, cold, windy conditions with a forecast for more of the same. The wind was actually forecast to be 30kn gusting 55kn by early afternoon. As we proceeded the traffic grew and grew and google maps showed more and more delays so progress was slow. The gusty wind rocked the caravan a few times but not to the point of any alarm.
