02.07.2019 Route
With our two year tour coming into the last few weeks we decided to skip visiting the capital city, Sofia, and press on further, conscious of the distance we still have to cover back to the UK.
Back in 2012 I had ridden my motorcycle into Romania specifically to ride the Transfăgărășan Road. The road had been featured on the BBC programme Top Gear in late 2009 and they described it as the worlds best road.
Unfortunately my visit had coincided with extreme rain and floods and I only got to ride the north side in very poor visibility.
With the weather much better in the area this time the plan was to tow the van over from Curtea De Arges to Cârțișoara.
