We had a need to move farther south into Andalucia because we had made arrangements to meet up with Lutz on February 4th to watch the Superbowl and he was currently in Seville.
I chose a site down toward Almeria as it would leave a short tow to the agreed meeting place near Motril.
Campsite Los Escullos had reasonable reviews and is priced, with Camping Card, at €19 a night including electricity. It was a straightforward 250km tow on the non toll A7/E15.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 250 Cumulative: 9,404
The journey passed without any difficulty and gave an opportunity to refill the caravan LPG tanks as we had used gas for evening heating, hot water, and fridge at Marjal due to the 4kw a day restriction. As it turns out we could have run the fridge off of the mains without busting our allowance.
On arrival we were invited to choose a pitch and report back to reception. At this point we made a couple of schoolboy errors. We chose a pitch not only shaded by trees, but also by artificial shade. Not good planning for February with a temperature of 13°C!
The bar was by now open, and as it was also approaching happy hour, we decided that the pitch would have to suffice for the 4 nights here 🙂
I had hoped that passing into Andalucía would herald the arrival of warmer weather forecasts but this is not the case. The best we can hope for apparently is 16° for the next week, although not a lot of rain expected.
A word of warning if you pass through this site. Gin & Tonic not included in happy hour. Schoolboy error number three. Read the rules! 🙂 On the plus side however, the free, site wide, wi-fi is excellent.
