Busy Doing Very Little

Saturday 2nd February 2019

We have spent the last ten days or so moving south to find warmer temperatures and escape the high winds present down the eastern coast of Spain. The first aim has been achieved, but the latter has failed as the strong winds have followed us leading to restless nights as the caravan is buffeted around.

Before leaving Vilanova Park we drove down to nearby Sitges and enjoyed a long walk into town past fine houses along the promenade before sampling a beer in the town, overlooking the sea.

Our next step south brought us once again to Camping Olé near to Denia. We intended to stay for four nights but ended up staying a week, busy doing very little. Except for a drive into Denia one afternoon we passed the time with walks up and down the long, fine, beach, mostly in bright sunshine (but with an element of wind chill always present), book reading and the odd inevitable domestic chores.

A welcome time to relax 🙂

After the short drive into Denia we wandered around the very busy marina staring at endless millions of pounds worth of luxury yachts and motor cruisers. Kim looked up one which could be chartered for the sum of €132,000 for a week!!

On Thursday we had a casual pack up and made our way down to re-visit another site we had used before, Marjal Costa Blanca. The plan here is to meet up with friend Lutz to watch the Superbowl as we had last year. Lutz has been visiting his uncle in Cartagena.

We have a large pitch on this huge site and quickly got setup, including the awning, something we hadn’t used in months 🙂

Our plans now are to spend time around this region waiting for the temperature in southern Italy to rise and then take the ferry from Barcelona to Rome, probably around the end of February. A visit to Naples and Matera, then Sicily for while.
