We awoke fairly early to the sound of rain on the caravan roof.
I went for a very rapid shower in the unheated block with water just warm enough for me to brave standing under. Kim had better luck as the water was more than warm enough in the ladies block.
Fortunately we had left the caravan hitched to the car overnight so the amount of preparation outside in the rain was much less than normal.
The plan for today was to move on up to Camping Internacional Aranjuez.
Aranjuez is about 40km south of the Madrid with an excellent rail link to the capital city.
The route was 210km, almost all of it on toll free motorway.
As we left the rain increased and visibility dropped for the first half an hour. The temperature was only 5°C!

We were regretting leaving the south coast where we noticed it was sunny & 17° already 🙂
The reward would be seeing Glenn, Lynsey, and the boys on Wednesday 🙂
The journey progressed well and the weather did improve as we moved northwards.
We were checked in by a very pleasant receptionist and then chose our pitch, (the site was very quiet), and set up the van for a planned four, or so, night stay.
The site is tidy, and the washing facilities are excellent. The shower block even has piped music, a first for us so far 🙂
The supermarket is closed at this time of year so we made our way to the on-site bar/restaurant. We enjoyed an excellent menu del dia including bread and bottle of wine for €12.95. The bar was quite busy with friendly locals enjoying their lunch break. The service was excellent also.
After lunch we set off out on the bikes to explore the local area and walked through the nearby Jardin del Principe (cycling no permitido).
As darkness fell we decided to enjoy a quiet night in, catching up with the days events at the Winter Olympics, home made tapas, and the occasional refreshment 🙂
