We awoke to a cool, grey, day. The weather forecast for Aranjuez was showing overnight temperatures dropping to below freezing for the coming week. Time to move on.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 340 Cumulative: 10,339
The plan was to travel toward Seville where the weather was drier and warmer.
Looking for a site approximately half way, we read good reviews of Cáceres Camping. Another Camping Card site, it is unusual in that every pitch has its own toilet/wet room. It costs €17 per night with further discounts for longer stays, 4 nights for 3, 8 for 6 etc.
I setup the Ford navigation to guide us on the route. All was going well until about 30km in the system decided we should turn left. I had my doubts but took the turn anyway. Next, we were commanded to take the first exit onto a road that no longer existed!
Then we entered the town of Borox, which is almost the word I had in mind at the time 🙂
We back tracked having wasted 15 minutes and then got back on route.
The journey progressed well, on a nicely surfaced non-toll motorway. We stopped to fill up with diesel and parked up for a while to make coffee in clear blue skies and bright sunshine, a nice change from the weather we had endured recently.
As we travelled through the Monfragüe National Park the scenery changed, appearing to be a Spanish version of Derbyshire at times. The amount of trees and animals increased and the area was noticeably greener than the majority of Spain that we had seen so far.
All the pitches are terraced up a moderate slope but are reasonably level.
Our personal wet room was very clean and tidy and the site has a good feel about it. We plan to stay eight nights.
