We’re chasing the weather again. We had listened to rain hammering on the top of the caravan most of Tuesday evening. We awoke on Wednesday to heavy rain and the pitches and roads of the site were soft under foot with large puddles.
The rain persisted all day, and we barely left the caravan. The mud outside and heavy rain even meant we had to cancel a planned lunch, with new friends Tony & Barbara, by email even though their caravan was a couple of hundred metres away from ours 🙂
Overnight we were kept awake by massive nearby thunderstorms with blinding lightning and very heavy hail.
Our original plan was to move toward Cadiz, and then Portugal, but the weather forecast for both was very poor for the next two weeks. The only area with reasonable forecasts was over to the east so the decision was made we would take a couple of days to return to Marjal Camping near Alicante for a couple of weeks.

The journey passed without incident and we took a night stop roughly halfway at Camping Alto De Viñuelas near Granada.
We took advantage of eating at the site restaurant and had a splendid meal & bottle of vino blanco.
It was cold and wet as we packed up to leave, and the journey started in poor visibility and heavy rain. What would have been marvellous views of the northern Sierra Nevada disappeared in the murk 🙁
The weather improved as we moved further east and on arrival at Camping Marjal Costa Blanca was 10 degrees warmer than Granada.
Having stayed here in January we knew the area of the site we wanted to stay and were offered a pitch very close to where we were then.
We intend to stay here for two weeks and take some down time from travelling. We will visit Alicante at some point as we missed doing that last time.
Kims son Matthew is due to visit for a few nights next Thursday, the 8th. Should be fun, and a welcome break for him from the sub zero temperatures and snow that he has been working in recently.
Weather forecast is showing 20°-23°C for the next two weeks. Good enough 🙂
