Today we packed up our gear and got ready to tow the 215km route onward to Lisbon.
Towing Kilometres – Today: 215 Cumulative: 12,767
The route passed initially through the Parque Natural but as we approached Sines the scenery became more & more industrialised. The road surface also became much rougher which required slowing to a crawl at times to avoid destroying the caravan. Time to take to the toll road 🙂
We had chosen to stay at the municipal campsite in the city, Lisboa Camping. This is not a Camping Card discount site so cost a little more than usual. Its’ advantage was most of the city was accessible by bus from just outside the gate, with maximum fare of €1.85!
On arrival we were allocated a pitch high on the site. On reaching the pitch it was obvious that it was too small for the van so we unhitched and drove back down to reception to ask for a change.
We then returned to the van, coupled up, and started to tow to the new pitch. Expensive sounding noises started immediately as I had failed to retract the jockey wheel!! The tyre had split and the wheel had been ground flat. Doh!!
The tyre now has two cross drilled holes and a cable tie holding it together until I source a new wheel.
The campsite is nice, although very busy, and the facilities are clean & tidy. We intend to stay a week.
