On our journey north from Ferrel on the Algarve we had spotted Aljezur and the ruins of a castle on top of a hill. It was a 45 minute drive from Zambujeira so we drove back to pay it a visit.

A short bike ride from our campsite Camping Villa Park Zambujeira was another superb sandy beach on the Alentejo coast, Zambujeira do Mar.
The one way system for cars in the town did not affect us on our cycle and we could head straight through the town towards the beach.
After a fantastic week spent with Paul, Ros, and the kids it was once again time to move on. We had been recommended to visit nearby Zambujeira do Mar so we made the short 70km tow up the coast to the nearby Camping Villa Park Zambujeira. We avoided toll roads to get a more scenic route and apart from some rough patches of road the trip went well.
Our current location was perfect for exploring the wonderful beaches of Portugal and we were honestly spoilt for choice and having a car meant that we were able to visit more remote beaches. A recommendation had been Bordeira and we were not to be disappointed. Continue reading Praia de Bordeira
Lagos on the Algarve was a short drive from where we were staying so it was worthy of a visit.
As we entered the town we passed the Forte da Ponta da Bandeira on one side of the road and the Governor’s Castle (Castelo dos Governadores) on the other. (Neither of which we visited).
