Apart from the many ports and towns lining this area of Galicia’s coastline which we passed on our way to our destination, we have been blessed with two beaches adjacent to our campsite and we were keen to check them out.
Just a short walk from the campsite was the delightful fine white sandy beach of Lariño which stretches 2 kms towards the lighthouse, El Faro, at Punta Ínsua.
The beach was all but deserted when we visited, including our second visit to watch the sun go down.
At the end of the beach furthest from the campsite there is a fantastic section of rocks and boulders where the impact and force of the sea could clearly be seen, as can the small black crabs and bright green lizards scuttling for shelter.
An idyllic spot to enjoy a lengthy stroll, some rock pooling or just good old plain sunbathing.
In the opposite direction from our campsite and the little natural harbour where it is located was the other beach known as Area Maior.
The beach is within the Monte e Lagoa de Louro.
We followed the signs which took us towards the beach through some vegetation before finally reaching the approach road.
At the furthest end of this gorgeous 1400 metre long sandy beach is the Monte Louro and behind is a large lagoon and dune system.
Apart from a solitary novice surfer and his wife and child we were the only people on the beach.
We enjoyed our leisurely stroll along the soft, white, sandy beaches and the occasional paddle through the crystal clear, shallow waters, pausing briefly at the rocks at the furthest end of the beach, before ambling back along the beach and this time following the road back in a loop to our campsite.
