After time to freshen up back at the campsite we headed back into the village to the Ægir Brew Pub part of the Flåmsbrygga, a cluster of buildings located here in Flåm.
We had already visited it on the previous evening and Ray had sampled their taster board of 5 home brewed beers and I had enjoyed a glass of Bøyla blonde ale. Yummy 😉
Tonight we had plans to eat in the restaurant. It wasn’t possible to book a table in advance; you just turn up and hope that you don’t have to wait too long for a table. (Table reservations are available for groups of 7 or more). Luckily we didn’t have to wait long at all and didn’t even get to finish our beers!
The restaurant is on the first floor whilst downstairs are cosy seating areas to enjoy a ‘beverage’ or snack, as well as a central area with large fire, weather permitting. The whole Viking styled building is fabricated in wood and amazing inside.
Although a small menu, the food was delicious and the service was brilliant, as was the beer and wine. What more could you ask for. We were not rushed to vacate our table and the ambience was just right.
If you are feeling adventurous you could order the Viking Plank, a five course beer and food menu. One of the beers is to compliment a chocolate dessert!
The BrewPub also offers beer tasting sessions and has a small shop, selling their Ægir beers, at certain times of the day. There is also a small hotel with a restaurant opposite which offers a more extensive menu but also the beers 😉
All in all a visit to the brewery comes highly recommended, whether you just fancy trying one of the 20 or so beers, ranging in strength from 4% to 13,2% or combining the experience with food.
