We’ve not posted on the blog lately because, quite frankly, there is little to report. We are still setup on our spacious pitch at the camping megacity that is Marjal Camping, enjoying inactivity ๐
Our days of late consist of getting up around 9, a light breakfast, then shower in the excellent facilities here.
After the odd domestic chore, and occasional shopping trip, the days have settled to reading and music listening for me, interspersed with the odd San Miguel gargle ๐ ,all the time topping up the suntan that gradually faded as we passed through Scandinavia.
Kim has signed up for an Ancestry.com trial and has spent many an hour, being the epitome of Miss Marple, researching her family tree. She now sits among a sea of slips of paper with names of relatives young and old ๐
Although the daytime weather here is sunny and warm it still gets quite cool after the sun goes down so we tend to retreat to the caravan for some TV viewing, the odd game or two, a gin & tonic, and a nice bottle of vino. We did have a fine curry in the nearby town of Catral the other night though. It’s tough, but we seem to manage ๐
Last Friday we did venture out to find Lutz who was wild camping in his campervan west of Cartagena. An hours drive down the excellent roads around here found him in amongst many other, mostly German, campers. It was a nice spot and we went for a walk along the dunes before setting off for lunch.
As we strolled along chatting we became aware of a couple of chaps who seemed to have forgotten to dress that morning and almost immediately about 5 dogs, all belonging to them, started milling around our legs barking. One of the owners then quite bizarrely started weaving between the three of us, supposedly rounding up his dogs, but more likely exhibiting himself. I cannot fathom why though, just think of Catweazle naked and you would be close to seeing the scene. ๐ ๐
We turned around and explored the ‘campground’ in the other direction then jumped into the car and headed off to the nearby restaurant that Lutz had chosen. We had a reasonable lunch at silly cheap prices with copious amounts of free Baileys after.
As usual, we had a good time chatting, eating, and drinking with Lutz, it is always good to see him. All too soon we headed back to camp to avoid driving after dark as the Kugas headlights are not good when driving on the right, the only weakness of the car.
We have changed our plans a bit, as the weather in Italy is still poor. We will head down to Malaga as we did last year and fly home for a couple of weeks early April, then take the ferry Barcelona – Rome when we return.
Time to sign off, we have to go over to Alicante to pickup Andy, who’s coming to visit for a few days ๐
